CANCELLATION: ACUSAfrica 2026 Winter School – Cancellation

We were pleased to receive a good response to our recent call for the 2026 ACUSAfrica Winter School: Criticism/Thought and Methodologies Otherwise, with applicants from China, Ghana, Malawi, Mozambique, Nigeria, South Africa, Tanzania, and Uganda.

Unfortunately, in light of the resurgence of Afrophobic protests in South Africa, we have to announce the cancellation of the ACUSAfrica 2026 Winter School. This decision was reached after serious deliberation, informed by the travel bans of some African countries to South Africa, where the Winter School was intended to take place.

As a network, we are deeply concerned about the current situation. We are considering its impact on the work of ACUSAfrica, and how we can most productively move forward to advance the pan-African aims of the network – which remain unchanged.
