This event was in collaboration with Queen’s University Belfast, the University of Ghana, and The Human Sciences Research Council (HSRC), and was partially funded by the National Research Foundation (NRF).

Scholars, activists, and policy-makers from the continent and beyond discussed the past and techno-rational present of the university and potential forms of solidarity for building its future(s).

The programme consisted of a series of provocations coupled with disputations and open discussions, a book launch, and a session devoted to the Transdisciplinary Institute for Mandela Studies (TIMS), Nelson Mandela University’s flagship initiative to advance Critical Mandela Studies.
