We are excited to announce the publication of Racism's Knowledge: Disciplines, Decolonisation and the Renewal of the Academy (2026), edited by Prof André Keet (Nelson Mandela University) and Prof Shirley Anne Tate (University of Alberta).
A collection of new and previously published work, the book opens with a provocation that runs through every chapter: What if racism does not merely infiltrate knowledge but owns it?
You can purchase the book via African Sun Media, Google Play or Amazon. DOI: https://doi.org/10.52779/9781998951741

Racism's Knowledge explores frameworks for understanding how racism shapes knowledge and the academy, emphasising the renewal of higher education through deep, interrogative, and critical reflection at sectoral, institutional, and individual levels. It grapples with racism, racialisation, and decolonisation within an interpretive research ecosystem that pursues a disclosing critique of higher education.
Published as Volume 5 in the On Higher Education Transformation series published by African Sun Media, the book is grounded in Black and decolonial studies, Indigenous epistemologies, and feminist praxis, and it charts pathways toward refusal, reparation, and renewed solidarity in the pursuit of planetary justice.
We hope to see you at the book launch in November 2026!
Stay tuned for more information.
